Yes! There are no income or working requirements for your child to attend a School Readiness program. If you have no source of income at the time of the application, you will need to complete a form at the Windham Senior Center and Human Services Department. We will notarize the form at no charge; please bring 2 forms of identification when you come to fill out this form.
There is a weekly fee that is charged for each program and it is based on a sliding fee scale. The School Readiness staff can give you an estimated fee amount if you know how much money your family makes per month or per year before taxes. If there is an immediate opening, the School Readiness staff will work with you and the program to get your child started as soon as possible. Please remember that your child will need to have a current physical and immunizations in order to start school - these forms should be given to the program at your first appointment to do enrollment paperwork.
There are 4 School Readiness programs in Willimantic. You can choose from Part Day Preschool sessions, which run either in the morning or afternoon, School Day Preschool, which is from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, or Full Day Preschool. Full Day programs are open from either 7:15 or 7:30 to 5:15 or 5:30, depending on the program. Your child can attend times that are convenient to your work schedule, but must be in a Full Day program from at least 9 am to 3 pm.
